The brief.

The objective is to extend some AccountEdge Desktop functionality into a browser-based environment for remote users or employees who would not want an entire accounting application (i.e. AED) installed on their computer.Continuing to sync through Dropbox (we know we need to replace DB with something we build ourselves, but that will be the next phase). This is exactly what Time Tracker (a Sourcebits-built app) is. AEC is simply building more Time Tracker type apps and putting them under one umbrella (in one app) - AccountEdge Cloud.

Our approach.

The development of AccountEdge Cloud (AEC) focuses on a redesigned Time Tracker as a module within AEC. Initial capabilities include Order Entry for managing quotes and invoices, Dashboards for key metrics, and Admin roles for rights management. Additional features will incorporate Fulfillment integration with shipping services, Bill Presentment and Payment via a web portal, and Customer Payments for processing.Inventory management, Expense Reporter for expense submissions, and enhanced Job Management and CRM Lite functionalities will also be included, addressing the diverse needs of users. Each module will be supported by a dedicated Business Requirements Document to ensure effective implementation.

Sync

Data between AED and TT is currently synced via Dropbox, but the goal is to replace it with an Acclivity-built server for more reliable, automated synchronization and improved user experience.

Admin

The Admin feature in TT will expand to allow more complex permissioning, enabling tailored access to specific modules like Order Entry and Time Tracker.

Go-to-Market Plan

All AED customers will receive one free AEC user to encourage exposure, with additional users available for a monthly fee.

Financial Projections

AEC’s success is tied to new unit sales, with anticipated adoption rates of 15-25% and projected revenue of $40-60 per customer per month, targeting 1,000 customers within 30 months.
